When can I renew my passport?



You can renew your passport whenever you want. You do not have to wait for it to run out. We will add any period that your passport has left to run (in whole months up to nine months), to your new passport.

How long must my passport be valid for when travelling abroad?


Most countries require that your passport be valid for at least six months beyond the completion of your trip.


How old must my children be to apply for a Child Passport?


Your children must be 15 years old or younger to apply for a Child Passport


For how long is my UK passport valid?


Adult passports – 10 years

Children under 16 – 5 years




When applying for a passport renewal, will I receive my old passport back?


Yes, unless the passport is damaged.




Passport still valid however there are no blank pages. Can I obtain additional passport pages?


No. You must apply for passport renewal.




How many blank passport pages do you need before your trip?


Depends on the country you are travelling to and how many countries you are passing through. As a general rule you need 2 pages per country.




I am recently married/divorced and have changed my name. How do I change the name on my passport?


You will need to renew your passport and submit documentation that reflect your new name. The current renewal fee is £72.50.



My passport was stolen and/or lost. How do I obtain another passport?


Complete a copy of form LS01 and post the completed form to Her Majesty’s Passport Office - the address will be on the form.




I have to send my passport to apply for renewal, but it still contains a valid visa. How should I proceed?


If you submit a passport for renewal that contains a valid visa, you must indicate that you want the passport returned to you with the visa intact.




Do I need to include my expired passport or travel document?


Yes you must submit your old passport as part of the renewal application process.

Can I send in a photocopy of a birth certificate or other supporting document?


No, you must send in the original




Do I need to send in photos?


Yes, two photos




Some of the boxes are small, can I write outside them?


No.




I’ve made a mistake on the form, what should I do?


Cross out any mistakes. Do not use correction fluid. If you make more than three mistakes on any line you will need to fill in a new form.




I live abroad. How do I for passport renewal apply?


If you‘re outside the UK you need to visit the nearest British embassy to apply.




I live abroad but am visiting the UK. Can apply during my visit?


Yes but you need a UK address where the new passport can be delivered.




I am turning 16 what do I do?


An adult is 16 or over. If you are going to turn 16 within the next two weeks you need to apply as an adult .
